Are Flat Earthers Actually Serious?

Seems there's not that much substantial evidence to support the flat earth yet the minority that are so sure about their "discovery", refuses to believe the evidence presented against it.

As conspiracy theories go, this one is by far one of the most baffling. The flat earth society is convinced that the United Nations emblem is supporting the idea that the earth is flat. They hold the idea that the Earth is a disk, whereby the Arctic Circle is central and Antarctica is an ice wall surrounding the edge. They claim that the wall is guarded by NASA, to prevent people claiming and falling over the edge. Seems farfetched when this is explainable, no? In 1961, 12 countries signed the Antarctic Treaty, which stipulated that Antarctica should be used exclusively for peaceful purposes and prohibits any military activity. However flat earthers believe that this is in fact a cover-up and is to prevent anyone from reaching the edge of the disk.
In the eyes of a flat earther, all science in relation to support the idea of a spherical earth is incorrect. Firstly, gravity isn't real. Instead of a force accelerating downwards, all bodies are actually accelerating upwards at 9.8 metres per second squared. The only "science" behind this theory is the so-called dark energy beneath the disk that holds it up. So there are different explanations for what we could perhaps call discoveries, however, all evidence is empirical.
How can the earth be flat when we've seen it's a sphere from space?
Well, it's believed that the 'firmament' is a dome barrier that keeps the atmosphere intact yet no one has ever passed through it. Flat earthers seem to claim that space imagery has been faked. They even questioned the moon landing and why the flag looked as though it was in motion, which was later said to have had mental rods in the flag otherwise it would have flopped (due to zero gravity).
It's hard to support such a conspiracy when there is so much evidence to disprove the flat earth. Whether the Flat Earth Society really believes that we are living on a flying saucer or have chosen to fabricate such a theory, over distrust of organisations and institutions, it's hard to know whether this idea is genuine or simply a parody.
